Estrategia para el turismo de naturaleza en sierra Madre y Selva de Chiapas

Last december we completed the design phase for the 2010-2012 Strategy for nature-based tourism development on Sierra Madre and La Selva el Ocote in Chiapas. Its vision is  "Tourism at protected areas and other conservation sites is developed in a sustainable way, providing benefits to conservation of the natural heritage as well to the quality of life of the communities and local persons, at the same time configure a conservation culture ".

This strategy was created in a participatory process with inputs from park managers and community enterprises from biosphere reserves of La Sepultura, Selva El Ocote and El Triunfo as well the expertise of some ecotourism consultants..

2010 visitation season to El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve is gone

Every year, from february through april, avid birders travel to Chiapas searching of at least three of its specialities: resplendent quetzal, horned guan and and the azure-rumped tanager.

The birder´s visitation program to el Triunfor Biosphere reserve must to ensure that its pristine environment is preserved. Therefore, in compliance of the park regualtions there is a limited number of persons that are allow to visit the El Triunfo Camping site. By 2010´ season that number has been reached.  if you are interested to birdwatching in Chiapas, we suggest:
